Print: An impression made by any method involving transfer of colors, designs, images or patterns from one surface to another. The six women in this show explore both traditional and contemporary themes through the ancient art of printmaking. Each of the artists has experimented exhaustively with innovative materials and processes. They have found ways that are less toxic for the environment, and for themselves, to produce work in the traditional medium of print, including monoprints, intaglios, reliefs, planographics and other techniques for transferring ink from one surface to another. Join us on a journey that uses new printing processes to explore the directions and ideas presented in this show. Printmaking: Alternative Paths has been reviewed by East City Art, see the review here. |
