"Topography", curated by Julie Gross, surveys a landscape of the natural and the man-made, emphasizing light and color. It tells a story of progression from the abstract representation of the natural landscape to the contemporary urban settings. Artists Tessa Siewert, Carmen Smith, and Julie Gross explore the interaction of the natural and the industrial world. While Tessa Siewert illustrates the natural world through her abstract compositions, Julie Gross paints buildings with vibrant and exaggerated color, while Carmen Smith’s work exhibits a juxtaposition of man-made structures with organic, abstracted brushstrokes and hues. In the exhibition, the viewer will progress through a variety of visual experiences from large wall installations to works on a variety of substrates.
